Catching cold again!!!

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

Flubug

I have been catching cold over and over again for the past few months. Normally it starts with Joshua, passing the cold to me and after that I’ll pass it to Brad and sometime it came back to me again. Last week, Joshua had a runny nose and cough, a few days after that I started getting sore throat and coughing. Yesterday I feel so weak and yucky, I had to call in sick. I wish it just go away for good. “Sigh”

One good thing that came out from this is that I found out about Vaporizer. It helps relief of cold and flu symptoms and it helps clear stuffy nose too. Since Joshua been to the daycare, he always come home with runny nose almost every day. Vaporizer does help a lot and it only cost me less than $15.00.

Thai Basil Chicken

Friday, April 18th, 2008

Two nights ago I cooked Thai Basil Chicken, you can get the recipe from My Kitchen Snippets. I forgot to buy yellow pepper so I replaced it with white onion. I also forgot to get some lime and I don’t have anything sour to replace it. It still tastes good even without the lime juice, my husband requested some cashew nuts to be added on his plate. Yummy!

The next day we both brought the left over for lunch and I think it tasted better than last night :) . Thanks again Gert for posting this wonderful recipe.

Clay Pot Chicken Rice

Monday, April 14th, 2008

I have been craving to eat Clay Pot Chicken Rice for years and about a year and a half or two years ago, I found this Clay Pot at one of the local oriental store. I was so happy and I found the recipe at Lily’s blog . While I was lurking online I find out on MyB that I have to soak the Clay Pot for 24 hours before I can use it. I have been dragging doing it until recently and the recipe on Lily’s blog is sooo….. good. Thank you for posting the recipe. I also did try your Apam balik and took it to a friend’s house. I didn’t get a chance to take the picture because it was gone in a blink of my eyes. :)

My next mission is to cook some of the recipes posted on Gert’s blog . Wish me luck, hopefully it won’t take me more than a year before I finally manage to cook it. :)

Mommy, I am sick!

Saturday, April 12th, 2008

What would a mother do when their baby is sick? I bet they will do anything to make sure their baby is comfortable. I wouldn’t know the feeling until recently Joshua was sick. His doctor said he has a bronchiolitis.

According to www.kidshealth.org ; Brochiolitis is a common illness of the respiratory tract caused by an infection that affects the tiny airways, called the bronchioles, that lead to the lungs. As these airways become inflamed, they swell and fill with mucus, making breathing difficult.

Signs & Symptoms are stuffiness, runny nose, mild cough and mild fever = common cold. These symptoms last for a day or two and are followed by worsening of the cough and the appearance of wheezes (whistling noises) when exhaling.

Joshua is always happy and it is very hard to tell when he is sick. I wish he’ll just tell me when he is sick. Hah! Not going to happen. He has no signs of having a cold but one day, his daycare called me and said: “There’s a wheezing noises when he’s breathing”. We took him to his doctor and she ordered us a Nebulizer to help with Joshua’s breathing. I have to give him the treatment every 6 hours and the next day the doctor told us to give his treatment every 4 hours. It was the worst week in my whole life. It broke my heart to see him crying, screaming and kicking every time I gave him the treatment.

See what I have to go through ………

Thank god, he only need to use Nebulizer for 2 weeks. The second week was a lot easier because he only needed his treatment once a day and I waited until he was really tired before I gave it to him. At the end of the second week, my little man (Joshua) is getting smarter. During the treatment he tried to pull the mask or the tubing attached to the machine (Nebulizer) and all of his attempts were failed because mommy was so good. One thing I didn’t expect for him to do was bending the tube cutting the air flow. Suddenly, mommy realized there was nothing spraying inside the mask because my little man is genius. :)

Here are the pictures after the treatment.

Thank god it’s over.

I am so sleepy!

I am going to sleep, mommy. Chot..chot..chot
